Inspiration

This ^^^ is my current jam for April’s National Poetry Month writing bonanza. I always think the right tools are important, and for me that means a good notebook and a good pencil. I’m partial to the paper inside Moleskine notebooks, and this one is bigger so it gives me more space to scribble around. The pencil was a gift from my daughter (it’s handmade!) and I love it.

I used these ^^ books as preparation for a project writing 30 villanelles during the month of August a couple of years ago. They are great resources for anytime!

I spent a summer reading Walden, and it might not be a writing guide but it was and will remain a huge inspiration to me! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that spoke so directly to my heart and soul, or resonated with me more completely. It was a good reminder, a trip back down the path of everyday distractions to the core of who I really am. It was the reading equivalent of a long, primitive camping trip. Obviously I would highly recommend it!

THIS ^^^ book. Amazing, wonderful, inspiring: every potential poet needs a copy.

THIS ^^^ book by my friend Melanie Faith is a fantastic resource! That little journal behind it is one I use especially for the writing it prompts me to do. Looking for some inspiration, maybe to stretch yourself a bit and grow? Check it out! She has one on photography for writers, too, that I am super excited to get into.
Stay up to date with all the things!
